This post is paid for by JS4JH.com – the Committee to Elect Jonathan Schechter to Jackson’s Town Council

For over 25 years, Jonathan Schechter has chronicled Jackson Hole as the economics columnist for the Jackson Hole News&Guide. For nearly 20 years he has run the Charture Institute, which studies and works with Jackson Hole and similar communities — both nationally and internationally — to identify and sustain their essential qualities. He also helps them develop funding mechanisms for their sustainability efforts.

“I’m different from other candidates because I’ve spent over 20 years studying Jackson Hole and communities like ours. I know what makes Jackson Hole different. Special. Unique,” Schechter said.

He added, “I’ve then taken what I’ve learned and acted, launching, leading, and supporting local sustainability efforts ranging from 1% for the Tetons to the annual 22 in 21 conferences looking at our economy, environment, health, and philanthropy. Now I’m running for the Jackson Town Council because I want to give back to my town in a new and different way.”

Local community members share what matters them, including their choice for Jackson’s Town Council: Jonathan Schechter.

Schechter continued, “My work has me convinced that the next four years are going to be among the most important in Jackson’s history.  The decisions we make will affect our town, our county, and our region for decades to come, and the most important decision-making body in our region will be Jackson’s Town Council. My combination of knowledge, vision, and experience allows me to know what has to be done, and how to get it done.  That’s why I want to serve Jackson’s citizens as a member of our Town Council.”

Schechter’s platform, “Sustain What Matters”, reflects his vision of preserving and protecting the qualities that make Jackson Hole such a special place. His has attracted support from an eclectic group of Jackson citizens.

“What matters to me is sustaining our ecosystem. It makes our lives more meaningful. It matters to the world,” says community doctor and international adventurer Bruce Hayse. “And that is why I am endorsing Jonathan Schechter for Jackson Town Council.”

Along with Dr. Hayse, Schechter has collected video endorsements from “Start Up Intensive” Co-Director Sandy Hessler, former Senior Center director Connie Owen, local travel writer Brigid Mander, local DJ Elliott Alston, snowboarder Jess Goucher, and noted architect and workforce housing developer Stephen Dynia.
