JACKSON, Wyo. — The National Museum of Wildlife Art (NMWA) has formed a new committee, the Community Advisory & Engagement Panel (CAEP). While the majority of committees at the Museum are comprised almost entirely of Board members and Museum staff, the majority of this committee will consist of community members.

The mission of CAEP is to understand and engage with the community as a whole by actively listening to a comprehensive range of community representatives, with the goals of furthering community collaboration and engagement with the Museum and its programs, improving public perceptions, increasing awareness, and driving visitation from all sectors of the community. CAEP is responsible for helping the Museum facilitate a feedback system that serves as a way to solicit opinions and expertise from different community members.

Panel members will serve for a minimum of two years, attend quarterly meetings (in person or via Zoom), and provide feedback as requested. They will help identify community members who could be interested in participating in Museum programs, events, and exhibits. Members will also assist staff in evaluation and reporting of past programs, events, exhibits, as needed. They will be an advocate for the Museum in the community, spread the word about the benefits the Museum can provide, and be a resource for volunteer needs.

Successful applicants will be involved community members who are interested in the arts. Museum membership is encouraged. Applications will be accepted through May 29, 2022. Museum staff and trustees will review the applications and notify applicants of the Museum’s decision by the end of June. Positions are limited and the Museum is committed to ensuring that the panel is representative of the community and that all key stakeholders are represented.

Volunteering on this committee will directly contribute to the Museum’s mission to impart knowledge and inspire appreciation of humanity’s relationship with wildlife and nature through art and education.
