JACKSON, Wyo. — The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole is offering to connect those seeking temporary housing with shelter options while the Teton Pass is closed.
Community members who are willing to offer a guest room or a guest house as temporary housing to Teton County, Idaho commuters, can can fill out this interest form. The Spanish-language form can be found here.
Additionally, Idaho community members searching for a temporary living space closer to work, can fill out this form. The Spanish-language form can be found here. The Community Foundation will connect workforce members with temporary housing opportunities as they become available.
“Teton Valley commuters make Jackson a fully functional community, providing our teachers and first responders, making hospitality and retail services here operational,” the Community Foundation said in a statement. “We have the answers to workforce and commute challenges if we work together. This is a time where our actions can make a real difference.”
The Community Foundation stresses that these Expression of Interests are an opportunity to support the local commuting workforce, and are not intended to provide rental or leasing agreements.
“By capturing this information we hope to connect individuals with housing opportunities as we face uncertain times with the Teton Pass closure,” the Community Foundation said in the announcement. “Thank you to those who have already begun organizing, offering space and creating deeper connections.”
On Wednesday, June 12, the Board of County Commissioners approved an Emergency Operation Plan with the aim of expanding temporary housing options by waiving certain land use permits.
