JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County and the Town of Jackson are performing a review and update to the joint Jackson/Teton County Affordable Housing Department Rules and Regulations. The public review and comment period will remain open for 45 days.

Town Council and the Board of County Commissioners will consider the adoption of updates at their joint meeting on Monday, Dec. 7, at 1:30 p.m. Public input can also be shared at that meeting.

“These updates are intended to help improve access to affordable housing and better support local workers, including first responders,” said the Housing Department in a press release.

Key updates in the proposed amendments include:

  • Adjustments to the preference for first responders in the weighted drawing process
  • Lowering the local income requirement for first responders from 75% to 25%
  • Refining income ranges for eligibility
  • Establishing fees for violations of the 60-day vacancy rule
  • Setting annual compliance fees for all new restricted units
  • Adding definitions, including a new “first responder” definition
  • Allowing households displaced by Housing Department developments an additional entry in the weighted drawing
  • Updates to maximum occupancy requirements
  • General clarifications of existing rules
