JACKSON, Wyo. – The Post 43 Giants continued to pull off a couple of miraculous comeback victories over the weekend, except when they couldn’t.

On Friday afternoon, the Giants couldn’t find an answer for Cubs pitcher Grady McCarten who silenced Jackson bats in a 7-2 win for Cody. Aaron Moya did what he could to keep the Giants close but the hometown team just could not string together hits to produce runs.

The second game of the day against Madison went better for the Giants, who pulled off another come-from-behind win. Jackson trailed by 4 runs for much of the game until an explosive 5th inning put Post 43 in the lead.

Jackson gave 1 run right back in the top of the 6th but a 3-spot in the bottom half of that inning sealed the deal for the G-men. Connor Lang had the big day for Post 43, earning the win on the mound with 1 2/3 innings in relief where he surrendered just 1 hit. He also went 3-4 at the plate with 2 RBI in the 10-7 win over the Madison Bobcats.

The Giants didn’t have long to celebrate as they loaded a bus for Rock Springs the next day. Parker Bleggi pitched a 4-hit masterpiece of a shutout for Jackson but Rock Springs hurler Ryan Powers was nearly as good.

The Giants finally broke through with the game’s only run in the top of the 7th on a clutch RBI single from Grant Parkin. Bleggi wiggled out of trouble in Rock Springs’ last at bat when Mason Wright gunned down a Rock Springs runner attempting to tag up on a fly out.

Giants 1, Rock Spring 0.

Jackson pummeled Rock Springs in the second game of the doubleheader Saturday with a 12-3 win. Seth Christiansen cruised on the hill, going 7 innings and allowing just the 3 runs on 8 hits.

Post 43 bats came alive. Bleggi (3-3), Mason Wright (2-4), Christiansen (3-5), and Quentin Bruno (2-5) led the charge at the plate.

The Giants left Rock Springs on a down note, however, when they found themselves on the wrong end of a lopsided contest this time. Aaron Huggins and Xander Witt could not contain Rock Springs bats and Jackson never really got on track offensively.

The Sunday morning game was called after 5 innings with the Giants losing 12-2.

The Post 43 Giants are now 17-24 on the season with a doubleheader against the Pocatello Runnin’ Rebels up next at home on Thursday, July 23.
