JACKSON, Wyo. — On Saturday, November 9, survivors of suicide loss can come together at St. John’s Episcopal Church to share understanding and hope for International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and provide a safe and supportive environment to celebrate the lives of those lost to suicide.
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, “connecting with others who have lost a loved one to suicide and hearing how they have navigated the pain of that loss is a fundamental step toward hope and healing.”
Individuals can RSVP for the Day of Remembrance by emailing beverly.shore@wyo.gov.
The Teton County Department of Health website states that the Wyoming suicide rate consistently surpasses the overall U.S. rate. As of September 2024, there are now two call centers within Wyoming as part of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline system and can be reached at: Wyoming Lifeline at (307) 527-1113 and Central Wyoming Counseling Center Lifeline at (307) 237-9583.
The free and confidential 988 line can be reached every day, all day by phone, text or online chat. An online chat function is available at 988lifeline.org.
