JACKSON, Wyo. — The Center has announced a suite of accessibility improvements implemented in an effort to improve program experiences for a wider range of audience members.
Upgrades to assisted listening, wayfinding and website accessibility were all part of the improvement project. The Center noted that the changes made over the past six months will support things like expanded language access and improved audio experiences, making the facilities “more intuitive, inclusive and easy to navigate for all visitors.”
“We always want to make sure that our campus and its offerings benefit the breadth of our community in Jackson,” Center for the Arts Executive Director Marty Camino said. “Upgrading our wayfinding, website language translation and integrating the latest assisted listening technology in our theater are all means to the end of making The Center a true community hub for all.”
The assisted listening technology in the Center Theater has been upgraded to include Wi-Fi Transmission that delivers clear, real-time audio without delay. This upgrade strives to enhance the listening experience for performances, talks and events. The system can be accessed via headphones and receivers provided by the Center, or through T-coil-equipped hearing aids and cochlear implants already possessed by audience members, which can join the dedicated assisted listening Wi-Fi network. The same system also facilitates live translation and commentary, which The Center says will expand access for multilingual audiences and special programming.
New wayfinding signs printed in bold, accessible detail have been installed around the campus to help guide visitors. The Center says it is planning to “transform the Glenwood Lobby, incorporating a welcome kiosk and an expanded gathering and co-working space. Serving more than 100,000 community members annually – including those engaged with The Center’s 18 Resident Organizations – these improvements are designed to create a more welcoming and accessible environment for all.”
In addition, the organization’s website has been updated to include an English/Spanish language menu, allowing users to choose their preferred language on every page. Find that drop-down on the top right corner of the site.
