CASPER, Wyo. — According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), on March 21 Lorna Roxanne Green was arrested and charged with arson of Wellspring Health Access Clinic. Green will appear in court today, March 23, at 9 a.m. in Cheyenne.
Wellspring Health Access Clinic was scheduled to open June 14, 2022, as the second place in Wyoming to offer abortion procedures, OB/GYN and gender-affirming care. However, early on May 25, 2022, the clinic was damaged in a fire police believe was deliberately set due to witness accounts and video surveillance.
On March 3, the Casper Police Department and an anonymous donor solicited the public for leads in the case with an additional $10,000 reward. Several tips identified a potential suspect, which led to the filing of charges after an additional investigation.
“This case demonstrates how valuable tips are from the community,” said U.S. Attorney Nicholas Vassallo in the press release.
“We would like to thank and recognize the dedicated investigators and citizens who contributed to the investigation of this dangerous arson incident,” said Chief of Police Keith McPheeters.
If convicted, Green will face a minimum of five years and up to 20 years of imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.
Abortion is currently a big point of contention in the Cowboy State, where pro-life legislation has just been temporarily restrained.
