No, seriously, there has to be somebody.
The Teton County Library is hoping there is that one (or more) unique ‘tax nerd’ out there who would be willing to become a volunteer to help families prepare their taxes.
The library is again assembling its dynamic team of experienced, helpful and supportive volunteers, who are truly making a difference in the community.
The free income tax preparation program prepares more than 500 tax returns a year, thanks to a team of dedicated volunteers who are able to make sense of government forms.
You don’t have to be a CPA or even a numbers whiz, necessarily. Others on the team can get you up to speed.
“We have a dedicated group of trained volunteers and they’re looking for more support,” says Maria Hayashida, the library’s volunteer coordinator. “We provide all of the training, no accounting skills required. If you’re looking for mentally-stimulating volunteer work that helps our community, please get in touch with me.”
Opportunities vary with different levels of training required, including:
- Tax preparers
- Intake/greeters
- Spanish translators

This volunteer commitment is flexible and limited to the four-month tax season, making it ideal for individuals interested in short-term volunteer commitments. Volunteers also receive a free dinner on the evenings they help with free tax preparation at the library.
Teton County Library and IRS have collaborated to bring this free service to the community for 15 years.
