JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Did you know there are about 55 conservation easements held under the county’s Scenic Preserve Trust? And did you also know that under the current program on-site monitoring to ensure compliance is done by independent qualified environmental science professionals who bid their services with the county?

Teton County is looking for a qualified Environmental Science Professional(s) to visit more than 25 Scenic Preserve Trust easements this spring. (Teton County)

Teton County, Wyoming is seeking qualified environmental science or land stewardship professionals to conduct annual site visits and prepare corresponding monitoring reports to aid Teton County in continued management of approximately 55 conservation easements held under its Scenic Preserve Trust (TCSPT). Inspections are done every other summer/fall for each easement, with half of the easements monitored in even- numbered years and half in odd-numbered years.

The Teton County Planning Department released its formal request for proposals (RFP). The County intends to enter into a contract with a professional consultant or team of consultants. The purpose of the annual monitoring visits and reports are to ensure compliance with related conservation easement terms and to maintain a legal record of the condition of each TCSPT property. Interested environmental science professionals have until May 17 to apply.

Through adoption of the Open Space Resources Resolution of Teton County, Wyoming, the Board of County Commissioners affirmed the following purposes for the TCSPT:

  1. To serve as the entity in which real property rights are vested and the property maintained according to regulations for the administration of the Trust,
  2. To accept open space easements on behalf of the citizens of Teton County,
  3. To identify, evaluate, acquire, and steward open space resource property in Teton County, and
  4. To conduct education and outreach about the value of open space resources and best stewardship

practices for protecting and maintaining open space resources, and to coordinate with other agencies and organizations to achieve the open space goals identified in the Comprehensive Plan.

Regular and consistent monitoring of the easements by qualified professionals ensures that proper stewardship of these open space resources in our community is maintained.
