Everyone is welcome to the Dubois Flea Market, June 26-27.

DUBOIS, Wyo. —Right next door to Teton County you will find Fremont County’s crown jewel in the small community of Dubois, with friendly folks and plenty to see and do, especially if you’re on a budget.

The Dubois High Country Flea Market is happening this weekend and is open to the public with free admission on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Inside there will be bargains galore and something for all ages. On Sunday afternoon at 2:30 there will be free drawings for multiple prizes for kids and adults; due to logistics, you need to be there to grab your prize and take it home with you, so keep this in mind if you’re opting for a Sunday drive. Concessions will be available for purchase on site, and unlike some events where the admission is free, but they get you on the food, that’s not the case in Dubois. A local service organization is using the sale of concessions as a fundraiser. You will find coffee, bottled water, breakfast items including cinnamon rolls and fruit-granola parfaits along with a $5 lunch special each day.

The High Country Flea Market is located inside Headwaters Arts and Conference Center and is situated adjacent to Dubois Town Park that offers abundant parking, shade trees, picnic areas, playground, river access, river walkway, restrooms and WiFi in the covered picnic shelter area. The Headwaters facility is in the beautiful Wind River Valley, nestled in the Wind River Mountains with the looming grandeur of majestic peaks and the serenity of calm, crystal clear lakes and streams offering many additional activities, including fishing.

On the subject of fishing, Dubois is home to a fish hatchery. The Wyoming Game & Fish Department currently maintains ten fish hatcheries and rearing stations that are an integral part of efforts to provide quality fishing, native species restoration and fisheries management. The hatcheries are scattered across the state, some in remote locations. They deal with complex issues, including water management, predators, production management and disease treatment and control. The Dubois Fish Hatchery is situated at the base of the Whiskey Mountain Bighorn Sheep winter range on the east slope of the Wind River Mountains, 5 miles east of Dubois on Highway 26, then 1.5 miles south on Fish Hatchery Court along the Jakey’s Fork Creek. The station is open to the public, with free admission, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily all year and visitors are always welcome. Guided tours are available to school groups, organizations and the general public by making a reservation. The Dubois Fish Hatchery incubates up to 5 million eggs each year for use at the station and other hatcheries in Wyoming and the Unites States. A wide variety of fish are incubated and/or reared at Dubois Hatchery. This includes Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout, Fall Rainbow Trout, Fire Hole Rainbow Trout, Arctic Grayling and Wyoming’s four native cutthroat trout: the Bear River (Bonneville), Colorado River, Snake River and Yellowstone Cutthroat.

Dubois is also home to the National Museum of Military Vehicles, recognized as one of the 10 best new attractions in the U.S. for 2020 in a national competition conducted by USA Today, where veterans and active-duty military personnel receive free admission. The Museum is located approximately 8 miles east of Dubois on U.S. Highway 26 and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, except Independence Day when they participate in the annual 4th of July Parade. They offer morning and afternoon guided tours. The cost of a tour is included with the cost of admission.

No matter your passion, you’re invited to Dubois this weekend, where you will discover a place where the West still lives. See you at The Flea!
