JACKSON HOLE, WYO – It’s all systems go as the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce released the latest economic indicator numbers for January 2019.
Occupancy rates are the first stat that jumps out. Lodging is up across the board and outpacing last year with ease. Advance bookings through February and March are looking equally positive.
Visitation was booming last month. January 2019 topped the previous year in both national parks. Lodging tax collection was up significantly in the 4th quarter 2018 and up in the Fiscal Year to Date.
Real estate activity was up in sales volume and dollar amount. Commercial and residential sale in 2018 4Q were 10.5% above 2017, with the total dollar amount 3.8% higher.
Town and county’s main source of revenue looks healthy as well. Sales tax collection in January 2019 topped what it was in January 2018 by almost $100k and Fiscal Year to Date revenue from sales tax is a whopping $8.8M ahead of where we were in 2018 at this time.
