Westwood Curtis carefully removes Walgreens from the base of Budge. (Westwood Curtis)

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Budge Slide remediation will get full on underway by June 24. Budge Drive will be closed to the public beginning Monday, June 12. Residents and utility service providers are asked to use the Budge Hill bypass road that links to Highway 22.

Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling in and out of the area. The closure is expected to last at least until Thanksgiving as remediation on the landslide will be going all summer long and into the fall. The work will break for winter and get underway again next spring. The job is expected to be complete by September 28, 2018.

Walgreens demolition will be completed by the end of the week. Salvageable materials will be auctioned off on Saturday, June 24.

Town councilors signed off on a $7,744,462.33 Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Westwood Curtis for that company’s work on Budge Slide remediation.

UPDATE from tonight’s council meeting…
Out of a 129-page contract document with WC, Jim Stanford questioned the $560 a day budgeted for a flagger at the road closure. Stanford thought it was excessive. Construction officials assured the councilman these would be exceptional flaggers, certified by the state highway department and therefore far better than your average flagger off the street.
