JACKSON, Wyo. — A small wildland fire was discovered in Game Creek on the evening of Monday, Aug. 18, the Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) shared Tuesday.
The Game Creek Fire, estimated to be 0.1 acres in size, is being suppressed by BTNF firefighters and Engine 441, a Type Four Interagency Wildland Fire engine based on the Jackson Ranger District. Teton Interagency Fire lists the blaze as a lightning-caused fire.
Smoke could be visible in the area, but there is no need to report it, per BTNF.
“Recreationists are asked to avoid the area while the firefighters work to extinguish the fire,” BTNF’s Facebook post reads.
Stage 1 fire restrictions are in place across the county and on nearby public lands. Town of Jackson residents are reminded to limit irrigation to preserve sufficient water resources for fire response. On Sunday afternoon, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS extinguished a lightning-sparked blaze in Bar BC Ranch.
