JACKSON, Wyo. — The Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center (BTAC) published its final report for the winter 2022/2023 season today.

According to BTAC, the Tetons picked up 2-8 inches of snow at the upper elevations, Togwotee picked up 1-3 inches and the Greys received an inch. Today in the Teton Range, avalanche danger is rated moderate in the upper elevations and low for low elevations. Recreationalists should be mindful of wind slabs sitting on the melt-freeze crusts that have developed following the flux of warm and then recent cold temperatures.

Following this forecast, avalanche information will contain weather information, recent noteworthy snow and avalanche observations and some general guidance on where you might find avalanche problems in the backcountry. It will not contain a danger rating, or avalanche-specific problems, and will generally be produced twice a week, unless conditions remain static.

As of this morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. According to NWS, 6 – 10 inches of snow can be expected in the Tetons. The hazardous conditions could affect morning and evening commutes over the Teton Pass.

Backcountry skiers and riders should also note the Mt. Glory boot pack will be closed most of the day on April 24 while tools and materials to remove the big green “billboard” are flown up using a helicopter. On Friday, April 28, the boot pack will close again so the helicopter can come back in and remove all the materials.
