JACKSON, Wyo. — Today, Dec. 27, the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center (BTAC) increased avalanche danger to “considerable” in the Tetons from 7,500 to 10,500 feet.

“Dangerous avalanche conditions exist,” the BTAC writes.

According to the BTAC, triggering avalanches up to two feet deep will be likely in steep, wind-loaded terrain in the mid and upper elevations today. Natural avalanches will also be possible.

The BTAC says sticking to lower angle terrain and avoiding being in the runout of avalanche terrain will be “critical.”

Continued snowfall and wind will make triggering more likely as the day progresses, BTAC warns.
