JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Local businessman, William “Bill” Resor was arraigned this morning in Circuit Court on charges he distributed and possessed child pornography on at least four separate occasions.
Resor was charged with four counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children—two for possession and two for distribution through digital or electronic means. Each count is a felony and carries up to 12 years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine.
Resor appeared this morning with Spencer Allred prosecuting for the State. Resor will have to answer to allegations that he distributed child pornography on or about January 6, 2017 and again on or about April 21, 2017. Two counts of possession of child pornography were also filed for a date on or about May 9, 2017.
Resor’s next appearance in court is slated for Tuesday, November 21 at 1:30pm.
In the affidavit obtained by Buckrail, agents of the Department of Criminal Investigation served a search warrant on the Resor home on May 9, 2017. A Mac laptop was seized by authorities and some 35 images from it were analyzed by Special Agent Brent Metcalfe with DCI and deemed to be erotic and sexual in nature featuring subjects under the age of 18, “some depicting clear child pornography,” according to the report.
Some images were also uploaded to a website called “Chatstep.” These incidents led to Special Agent Robert Leazenby launching an investigation on behalf of DCI’s Computer Crime Team, resulting in the distribution charges and eventual possession counts.
