Boardwalk shuffle on Town Square

JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town Square is bustling with movement and change this off-season.

Crews have been working on installing a brand new boardwalk in front of the southwest antler arch. Pedestrian access is restricted until it’s done, but they’re working quickly and hope to be finished “before the snow starts to fly,” Town of Jackson posted on Facebook.

Speaking of the southwest antler arch, have you noticed its new jewelry? St. John’s Medical Center lit the town pink last night for their annual ceremony recognizing breast cancer awareness month and breast cancer survivors. The pink lights will shine every night this month.

Parking around the Town Square will be closed tomorrow morning, Oct. 3, from 6 a.m.–noon while a “high profile dignitary” visits town. Center and Deloney will also be closed. The notice from the Jackson Police Department did not name this dignitary, but first lady Melania Trump is scheduled to arrive in Jackson tomorrow morning for her national parks visit.

Town of Jackson and The American Legion also installing a new Veteran’s Memorial in the center of the square.

Local veterans and relatives can apply to be included on the monument until November 1, provided they meet the following criteria:

-Born in Teton County
-Died in Teton County
-Enlisted with Teton County as home of record
-Have resided in Teton County for 25 years or more;
-Have been honorably discharged and can produce a DD214 (discharge papers) or equivalent proof of enlistment.
