WILSON, Wyo. — As inflation drives grocery prices ever higher, Buckrail decided to collect some data for wallet-wise shoppers in the valley.
Last week, we compared the prices of basic market staples at Jackson’s four largest grocery stores.
This time, we’re looking at five small markets on the West Bank of the Snake River: Aspens Market, Basecamp, Bodega, Hungry Jack’s and Mangy Moose Cellars & Grocery. At each store, we found the lowest sticker price for a dozen eggs, milk and a loaf of bread. Here’s what we found:
| Store | Eggs (dozen) | Milk | Bread (loaf) |
| Aspens Market | $6.59 | $10.99 gallon, $4.89 half-gallon | $5.69 |
| Basecamp | $3.00* | $6.50 half-gallon | $7.99 |
| Bodega | $11.49 | $8.99 gallon | $4.99 |
| Hungry Jack’s | $6.25 | $5.75 gallon | $6.00 |
| Mangy Moose | $3.99, out of stock | $5.50 half-gallon, out of stock | $6.50 |
*A dozen eggs at Basecamp originally rang up as $7.00, but the cashier said it was an error. He went into the stockroom to confirm the new price and adjusted it to $3.00.
Also worth noting is the absence of price tags at Bodega. Grocery prices are not displayed. Additionally, stock at the Mangy Moose might be lower than usual while Teton Village is in its off-season.
Data was collected on the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 10. Stay tuned for further insight into the area’s food pricing.
