WYOMING – On Feb. 15, Governor Gordon signed a bill allowing network expansion and collaboration between families who homeschool in Wyoming, including Teton County.
HB0070, sponsored by District 1 Representative Chip Neiman (R), will make it possible for homeschool families to work together to provide home-based education. Previously, instructional programs provided by more than one family was not considered a home-based education program.
According to the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE), from 2021-2022 there were 54 homeschools and 105 homeschool students in Teton County School District #1. While these numbers are lower than in 2020-2021, the signing of this bill could lead more families to make the decision to homeschool as broader involvement allows homeschool programs to be more accessible to members of the community.
The law will become effective on July 1.
