JACKSON, Wyo. — Put the pedal to the pathway during the Friends of Pathways, Bike To Work Day on Wednesday, July 17.
For those in need of extra motivation, bikers will be rewarded with coffee, muffins and high fives from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m., according to Friends of Pathways. Free breakfast treats will be given out at four different locations throughout the valley to those who bike, walk or bus to work. Locations for breakfast include the Healthy Being Juicery, Snake River Brewing, Stilson parking lot and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s General Store.
“No matter where you are headed in Teton County, you should be able to bike by and grab a coffee and muffin and get to work,” Friends of Pathways said in the announcement.

Hoback Sports will also be offering free bike tunes to biking participants.
“Leading up to Bike to Work Day, national, regional and local bicycle advocacy groups encourage people to try bicycle commuting as a healthy and safe alternative to driving,” Friends of Pathways Communications and Advocacy Director Samuel Petri said. “In most cases, all of these events happen in May. But in Jackson Hole, May is often a very cold and wet month, so to encourage the most people to participate, Friends of Pathways now holds Bike to Work Day in July.”
Friends of Pathways told Buckrail that Bike to Work Day is an annual event that promotes the bicycle as an option for commuting to work. The day was originated by the League of American Bicyclists in 1956 and is a part of Bike to Work Week, which is in turn part of National Bike Month.
During the event, Friends of Pathways asks participants to help reduce waste by bringing their own coffee cup.
