JACKSON HOLE, WYO – This Friday is World Wildlife Day and what better way to celebrate than a global launch of the International Big Cats Film Festival at Center for the Arts?
“Night of the Wild Cat” will spotlight Jackson Hole’s mountain lions and other big cats from around the world. The film fest is offered in conjunction with the United Nations World Wildlife Day.
Presented by Jackson Hole WILD and co-hosted by The Cougar Fund, “Night of the Wild Cat: Celebrating Lions and Tigers and Cougars” will include a world-premiere screening of The Age of Big Cats: Puma, and other short films from the International Big Cats Film Festival.
The International Big Cats Film Festival is a collaboration between the United Nations/CITES and Jackson Hole WILD (the organization behind the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival) to raise awareness of the world’s animals and plants under threat around the globe. Film festival winners will be announced at a high-level event at UN Headquarters in New York, also on March 2, with films continuing to be shown throughout the year at embassies, consulates and community venues.
Jackson Hole’s two-hour “Night of the Wild Cat” event will include a series of shorts about big cats, as well as a Q&A with big cat experts regarding challenges and successes for the valley’s resident big cat, the mountain lion.
Tickets for Night of the Wild Cat are available through the Center for the Arts Box Office for $10 plus $2 Vendini fee for adults. Children under 12 are free. Look for amazing raffles, including a Tom Mangelsen print, Mountainsmith backpack and more.
Doors, bar and raffles open at 6:30pm, with special big-cat themed cocktails. Films begin at 7pm.
