JACKSON HOLE, WYO — Spoiler alert! When compiling data in order to find the best place for jobs in each state, we could have saved Zippia the wear-and-tear on their computers. Jackson, Wyoming. Duh!

Seasonal workers flood Teton County every summer. It’s finding housing that is the challenge. Consolation? You won’t need a bed if you pick up enough shifts. (Brooke Cagle)

A quick scan through the Want Ads will tell you all you need to know without the fancy research. Job availability here in Teton County has almost everything to do with the lack of affordable housing, of course. There is also a spike in seasonal work that ramps up in winter and far more so at the onset of every summer.

Metrics used by Zippia relied heavily on reported unemployment rate. That statistic is often skewed in Teton County where 90-day wonders and seasonal temps often use the system to their advantage. Those employed in the service industry, especially, have made it a well-established custom to work furiously for 4-5 months and then get ‘laid off’ for a month of travel while collecting unemployment before starting all over again, usually with the same restaurant, hotel, etc.

Still, we will assume every community in this research has its own quirks and reasons they were chosen as the best place in each state for jobs—meaning they are plentiful and available for the taking.

Jackson easily made the list for city/town where one could most readily breeze through a morning interview and be punching the clock by the evening shift. It was somewhat surprising to see we did not rank among the Top 10 in the nation for best job climate. In fact, Jackson was down the list at No. 36 behind thriving hotbeds like Glenpool, Oklahoma; Chalco, Nebraska; and Spanish Springs, Nevada. What?

See for yourself and read the story (between clocking out at your 3rd job to get to your 4th job).
