JACKSON, Wyo. — Becoming Jackson Whole invites local residents to the second annual TRYathlon: Fitness for Body & Mind on Saturday, Aug. 13 at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

This fun, free, family-friendly event combines physical and mental fitness exercises proven to decrease stress and boost resilience. In the middle of our busy summer season, it’s an occasion for our hardworking community to recharge, replenish and connect.

The TRYathlon will begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 13 and includes:

  • Guided mindfulness practice (English and Spanish instruction)
  • Yoga for all abilities (English and Spanish instruction)
  • 5K trail walk/run (at your own pace)
  • Post-exercise hydration and celebration with DJ Rosie Read

Hundreds of TRYathletes joined us for the inaugural event last year. We enjoyed clear skies and camaraderie, with immediate feedback following the event underscoring the power of these resilience tools. Participants reported feeling balanced, refreshed, grateful and connected.

“Developing mindfulness skills is extremely beneficial for people who work or volunteer in the caring professions,” said St. John’s Health community relations director Karen Connelly, who is also on Becoming Jackson Whole’s advisory board.

With the science-backed practice of mindfulness, we can train our brains to be more present, more aware, and more resilient to the stresses and challenges of life.

“After the huge success of last year’s event, we know people are hungry for community, and we are excited to return with an experience that strengthens us physically, mentally, and collectively,” said Sara Flitner, founder and president of Becoming Jackson Whole. “We are providing space for mental and physical workouts, yes, but there is a bigger message: your mind deserves and needs exercise, too, and with even a few minutes of daily investment, we see change. Small acts, big impacts.”
