
JACKSON, Wyo. – Becoming Jackson Whole invites local residents to the first annual TRYathlon: Fitness for Body & Mind on Sunday, August 8 at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. This fun, free, family-friendly event combines physical and mental fitness exercises proven to decrease stress and boost resilience. In the middle of our busy summer season, it’s an occasion for our hardworking community to recharge, replenish, and connect.
“One silver lining of our experience this last year is that we all recognize how vulnerable we are to getting off balance in the face of serious stress. We shared disruption and loss and uncertainty together, and now we share a commitment to developing resilience,” said Sara Flitner, founder and president of Becoming Jackson Whole. “With this event, we can share evidence-based tools and practices with our community.”
THE BUSINESSES AND PEOPLE MAKING IT HAPPEN
Business and community leaders quickly stepped up to sponsor an event that helps locals regain emotional balance and improve mental fitness, including Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, The Wellness Center at St. John’s Health, First Republic Bank, Jedediah’s Catering & Concessions, Flitner Strategies, Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole, The Alpenhof, The Liquor Store of Jackson Hole, Compass Real Estate, the Jannotta-Pearsall Family Foundation of Jackson Hole, and Teton Village Association.
In addition, a committee comprising busy Jackson philanthropists and professionals enthusiastically joined Flitner and her team to plan and execute the inaugural event despite their own packed schedules. “I’m cribbing from one of them,” Flitner said, when she referenced a committee leader’s sentiment: “We do better if we take care of ourselves and help each other.”
THE PROGRAM

The TRYathlon will begin at 9 a.m. and includes:
• Guided mindfulness practice (English and Spanish instruction)
• Yoga for all abilities (English and Spanish instruction)
• 5K trail walk/run (at your own pace)
• Post-exercise hydration and celebration with DJ Rosie Read at Solitude Station
“This is a one-of-a-kind community event, for the people and families who live here, work here, serve here. We loved offering tools and practices virtually during the pandemic,” Flitner said. “This event allows us to be together, supporting each other, learning new things together, with sparks of joy that erupt only when you’re able to experience something inspiring with other inspiring people!”
