WYOMING – After the Badger Creek Fire blew across a state highway and doubled in size yesterday, authorities have ordered a Type II team to jump on the wildfire.

Additional evacuations were put in place today including areas along Highway 10 from Woods Landing to the Colorado state line. The communities of Woods Landing, New Jelm, and Jelm are being evacuated by Albany County first responders. A pre-evacuation notice is in effect for the community of Foxborough.

Previous evacuations include the communities of Mountain Home, Wold Tract, WyoColo, Foxpark, Gramm, Beehive, and Miller Lake.

The fire is now estimated at 2,300 acres. There have been no confirmed injuries or structure losses to date.

Wyoming Highway 230 remains closed. All power has been cut to the effected area as a precaution. Today’s forecast calls for hit, dry, and windy conditions.

Two 20-person hand crews arrived yesterday. A total of 70 are assigned to the fire now. Air support was also in play yesterday as two VLATs and four heavy air tankers worked the fire Monday. The State of Wyoming Type III helicopter is also on site.

Evacuees are being asked by Albany County to email ema@co.albany.wy.us with accurate contact information so that consistent information sharing can be maintained.
