JACKSON, Wyo. — Avant Delivery thinks coffee is pretty important. Many drink coffee every morning, to fuel their activities and while walking around town catching up with friends. The need for a hot drink often happens outside the home & while many try to remember a reusable mug it’s often left in a cupboard, or is dirty in the car cupholder from earlier in the week. This inevitably leads to getting your fix in a single use disposable cup with a lid and heat sleeve.
Unfortunately, an estimated 2.5 billion single-use coffee cups are thrown away globally every year. Only about 1% of these disposable coffee cups are actually recycled (Environmental Protection Agency). Most of these products are paper coated in plastic and cannot be recycled. Styrofoam cups keep coffee hot but aren’t recyclable and don’t ever fully decompose, instead they degrade into microplastics. Compostable cups typically require expensive commercial composters capable of reaching high heat levels to be composted. Since coffee itself is non-negotiable Avant Delivery knew there had to be a better way.
Avant provides coffee shops with reusable cups that members can use whenever they want to indulge in an afternoon pick-me-up. Their goal is to eliminate the need to remember your reusable mug. Once you’ve finished your coffee the cup goes in your Avant Reusables Bin and an Avant Team member will come by weekly to empty your bin, clean the cups and reintroduce them to local coffee shops.
