JACKSON, Wyo. — Wyoming House Representative Andrew Byron, who represents parts of Teton and Lincoln counties in House District 22, has announced his reelection campaign for another two-year term.
Byron was first voted in as representative in 2022 and began his term in 2023. He serves as chairman of two committees: the House Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee and the Air Transportation Liaison Committee. Byron was born and raised in Teton County.
“Over the past two terms, I have helped pass meaningful legislation supporting property tax relief, keeping public lands in public hands, supporting Wyoming’s aging population, and strengthening our legacy industries,” Byron wrote in his newsletter announcing the campaign. “There is still important work to be done, and I remain committed to advocating for policies that protect our economy, our freedoms, and our way of life.”
Byron has served on local boards, including as chairman of the Snake River Fund. He has volunteered with Teton County Fire/EMS for the last 10 years, and currently serves as a lieutenant. According to his newsletter, he has supported legislation that focuses on property tax relief, public lands, Wyoming’s aging population and strengthening the state’s “legacy industries.”
He recently made headlines for doubling down on his stance against housing mitigation fees, saying that he doesn’t believe the fees are the right tool to help fund affordable housing. Teton County utilizes housing mitigation fees imposed on commercial developers and some private residential projects. Byron is the only Republican in the Teton County delegation.
The primary election will be held on Aug. 18.
