JACKSON, Wyo. — There are many different COVID-19 testing options available and with so many to choose from, it can be hard to know which one is right for you. The Teton County Health Department has compiled all COVID-19 testing material related information for your convenience, in hopes that it can make your testing experience a little easier.
What are the differences between the types of tests?
- PCR: This is the gold standard in testing and is very sensitive and reliable. It’s appropriate for asymptomatic, presymptomatic and symptomatic individuals. Some tests are rapid but not all of them.
- Antigen: This test is available for symptomatic individuals who’s symptoms started within the past five days. Rapid results are available within a few minutes.
- Antibody: This is a blood test that might tell you if you had a past COVID-19 infection. They are not currently used for decision making by TCHD.
