JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Airport will have a new face at the helm.
Kevin Bumen will take over as chief executive officer after a career in California airports, according to an announcement by the airport’s board last week. He will begin his new role at the beginning of December. He most recently served as chief commercial officer at San Francisco International Airport.
“Building on Jackson Hole Airport’s legacy of stewardship and operational excellence, I am honored to lead this world-class organization into this next exciting chapter,” Bumen said in the announcement. “I look forward to calling Jackson Hole home. I have a longstanding love for Wyoming, having first experienced its grandeur during a NOLS winter backcountry ski mountaineering course in college, and returning over the years to enjoy the Greater Yellowstone’s many wonders.”
Bumen is taking over following Jim Elwood’s retirement, announced earlier this year. In the role, Bumen will report to the board and lead approximately 135 full-time employees while overseeing airport operations, financial and business management, Fixed Based Operator operations, and safety, security and regulatory compliance. The announcement touts Bumen as an Accredited Airport Executive and an instrument-rated pilot currently serving as the vice chair of the American Association of Airport Executives. Previous roles include Director of Airports for San Luis Obispo County and positions at the Truckee Tahoe Airport District.
“We are thrilled for Kevin to join our airport team and our community,” Jackson Hole Airport Board President Melissa Turley said in the announcement. “Kevin’s background in airport management and operations, combined with his commitment to community partnership and understanding of the responsibility of operating in one of the nation’s most extraordinary airport environments make him an outstanding fit for this position.”
