JACKSON, Wyo. — A wildfire is currently active in the Teton Wilderness, near the border of Yellowstone National Park.

According to Teton Interagency Fire, the one-acre blaze was discovered near Huckleberry Ridge at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 19. Fire managers are referring to it as the Flagg Fire, which was caused by a lightning strike.

Resources on scene include three engines from Grand Teton National Park and Bridger-Teton National Forest, plus the Teton Interagency Type 3 Helicopter. A load of Smokejumpers has been ordered from West Yellowstone, Montana as well as a Type 2 helicopter, says Teton Interagency Fire.

Smoke is reportedly visible from major roadways in the vicinity. There are no road or trail closures in the area at this time.

The fire danger was increased to “high” in Yellowstone National Park today. As of July 13, fire danger is “high” for the Teton Interagency Area which includes Grand Teton National Park, the Bridger-Teton National Forest and the National Elk Refuge.
