CHEYENNE, Wyo. – In response to the new Legislative property tax relief statute, the AARP Wyoming is inviting community members to attend a free, online conversation on Thursday, May 1, to learn how property tax relief efforts will affect Wyoming residents.

On March 4, Governor Mark Gordon signed Senate File 69 – Homeowner property tax exemption, which provides a 25% property tax exemption on the first $1 million of a single-family home’s fair market value.

KFBC Radio’s Jared Schaefer will moderate the property tax discussion with AARP Wyoming and Wyoming Department of Revenue Director Brenda Henson, who will discuss how the new property tax measure will be collected and used in Wyoming.

According to the AARP, Henson will also share the deadlines and processes for applying to the property tax exemption for long-term homeowners and the property tax refund program. The deadline to apply for the property tax refund program is Monday, June 2.

The event will begin at 12 p.m. via Zoom and TeleTown Hall. To register for this free Zoom event, click here. Prior to the event, AARP Wyoming will dial out to members at 11:45 a.m. on May 1. The event will be livestreamed on AARP Wyoming’s Facebook page at facebook.com/aarpwy.
