JACKSON, Wyo. — Cue the drumroll (or the roar of Lunch Counter) please! Summer’s peeking around the river bend, and you know what that means—it’s time for Dave Hansen Whitewater’s 7th annual High Water Heyday Contest! With Jackson Lake sitting pretty at 77%, downstream reservoirs almost filled to the brim, and a snowpack just itching for a sunny day, the Snake River Canyon is gearing up for some serious splash this season.
Think you’ve got river smarts? Take your best shot at guessing this year’s high water mark on the Snake River, and you could float away with your very own NRS raft! The contest is open now through May 31, and the Grand Prize goes to the closest guess (without going over) in cubic feet per second. Check out the current river report for clues—flows, temps, and weather—all the intel you need to make a winning guess.
New this year: We have a fantastic prize for the next generation of river rafts: Ages 13–17 can paddle away with their very own Tributary Spud Inflatable Kayak!
This one’s for the hometown river heroes! The NRS raft and Tributary kayak prizes are reserved for our fabulous local-area peeps (check the rules for details). But don’t worry, out-of-towners—we’ve got something epic for you, too: a private whitewater trip in an 8-man raft or a dreamy scenic float gazing at the Tetons and Snake River Range!
The early bird gets the raft! If multiple river gurus get the right number, the winner will be the one who guessed first. So get in there early—your future raft-self will thank you!
