HOBACK, Wyo. — The Hoback Volunteer Fire Department’s summer barbecue picnic is a staple event in the valley, and it’s happening this weekend.

The 48th annual barbecue will take place just south of Munger Mountain Elementary School on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 12 to 3 p.m. The recommended donations for entry are $25 for adults, $15 for children age 6 to 12 and free for kids under 6. The fire department requests that attendees leave their dogs at home.

According to a Facebook post by the Hoback fire station, the volunteer firefighters from Station 3 will be cooking 3,000 pounds of their famous pork ribs with “secret sauce.” Accompanying the ribs will be beans, coleslaw and corn on the cob. Beer, soda and water will be available for purchase.

“Support these volunteers who respond rain or shine to vehicle crashes, fire alarms, wildfires, house fires, gas explosions, water rescues, carbon monoxide accidents, medical calls, and a myriad of other life safety emergencies,” reads the Facebook post. “In the middle of the night they will be there, or they will leave their paid job in the middle of the day to come to your call.”
