David expresses his enthusiasm about the continued interest in the program saying, “I’m excited to see the strong continuing interest in the Trout Friendly Lawns Program. This year’s Trout Friendly Landscaper and Business Certification Event, held in person for the first time in several years, was very well-attended and is one of the few times landscapers get to gather in the same building to discuss practices that protect water quality.” The event included informative training sessions on best practices, such as the responsible use of fertilizers, optimizing irrigation and watering techniques, maintaining streamside buffers, incorporating native plants in a landscape, improving soil health, and ensuring appropriate use of herbicides and pesticides, among other topics. The next event is scheduled to take place in early to mid-April of 2024, aligning with the timing of valley snowmelt.

JH Clean Water Coalition also encourages individuals, homeowners associations (HOAs), and others to join in and become part of a community-driven solution to water quality.
