JACKSON, Wyo. — On the morning of Monday, April 22, the Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) announced that it had received a phone call from the Wyoming National Air Guard, saying there was a possibility that a C130 would be conducting military training between 11 a.m. and noon in the region. The airport will also conduct a live fire training exercise this week.

According to JAC, the airport does not always receive prior notice of these events, and does not have authority to deny military training requests.

“Airport staff does respectfully request these agencies to choose alternative locations for training operations in order to protect noise sensitive areas of Grand Teton National Park, wildlife and our community when we receive notifications,” JAC said in the announcement.

On Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24, the Airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting team will be conducting a live fire training exercise that is required by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Live fire and a mock response with mutual aid agencies could be visible at JAC on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.

Question or concerns about this exercise can be emailed to the Jackson Hole Airport Communications Manager, Meg Jenkins, at megan.jenkins@jhairport.org or residents can call 307-699-4387.
