YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Visitation statistics have been released by Yellowstone National Park (YNP) for the month of August.
YNP announced via press release on Thursday, Sept. 4, that the park hosted 881,936 recreation visits last month, which is up 2% from August 2024’s total of 868,259. The park saw a 4% dip from August of 2021 (921,844 visits), which was a record-breaking year for visitation with over 4.8 million guests.
This year to date, YNP has seen 3,547,967 recreation visits, up 2% from last year (3,494,350 visits). That total is only 1% off the number of visits in the same period of the record-breaking year of 2021 (3,590,609 visits).

- 2023 — 3,308,924
- 2022 — 2,437,607 (The park was closed June 13 through 21 due to a historic flood event. Three entrances opened on June 22.)
- 2021 — 3,590,609
- 2020 — 2,556,528 (The park was closed March 24 through May 17 due to COVID-19. Two entrances opened on May 18, and the remaining three opened on June 1.)
