JACKSON, Wyo. — Bear spray is an effective repellent when used against grizzly bears, black bears and … robotic bears?
Robobear is a remote-controlled tool used at bear spray trainings to simulate a surprise encounter situation, allowing participants to try their hand at spraying the charging bear. He tops 20 mph, while a live grizzly can reach speeds of up to 30 mph and higher.
A bear spray giveaway and training seminar took place on Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Teton County Fairgrounds, put on by the Safari Club International Foundation, Wyoming Game & Fish Department, American Bear Foundation, Campfire Conservation Fund and Mystery Ranch.

Participants who practiced with inert bear spray on Robobear were given a free can of spray. Remember to use bear spray only for its intended purposes, and not to discharge it inside of a saloon.
