WYOMING — Backlash to Presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg’s 2016 comments about farmers is going viral including one particular Wyoming response.
A Gillette-based Facebook page, Our Wyoming Life, posted a video featuring Mike Galloway and his family educating the former mayor of New York City on a few things “agricultural.”
The criticism stems from a comment Bloomberg made in 2016 where he was quoted as saying he “could teach anybody to be a farmer” but information technology, for instance, required “a lot more gray matter.”
The comment is making the rounds on social media where it is often accompanied by Paul Harvey’s “So God Made a Farmer” Super Bowl commercial or a pro-farming meme of some kind. Wyoming’s answer appears to be Galloway, who traded in a corporate radio career for ranching in northeast Wyoming.
“Michael Bloomberg’s comments about farmers shows he has no idea what goes into becoming a farmer, a rancher, or a caretaker of this land,” Galloway says in the video’s opening. “We work 365 days a year in every weather condition imaginable and often by ourselves.”
It’s quite the ode to ranching in the Cowboy State. Check out the video “Bloomberg, You Have No Clue!”
