HOBACK, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has announced two planned closures on Friday, Feb. 16, for avalanche mitigation purposes.
Teton Pass, WY22 between Wilson and the Idaho State Line, will be closed at 3 a.m. for avalanche control.
There is no parking at the summit of Teton Pass and Coal Creek beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15. Highway travelers and backcountry users are advised to plan accordingly.
WYDOT has also scheduled a closure of US 191/189 through Hoback River Canyon on Friday at 2 a.m. for avalanche mitigation.
Travelers should be aware that reduced visibility, winter driving conditions and increasing avalanche hazard could force earlier closures on both Teton Pass and Hoback Canyon.
Buckrail Meteorologist Alan Smith reported a strong storm cycle in the valley through Friday. Drivers are to exercise caution.
