JACKSON, Wyo. — An exhibit celebrating the beauty, integrity, and profound legacy of Wyoming women is up and showing in Cody through next summer at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

The Women in Wyoming multimedia exhibit, “Portraits and Interviews of Women Who Shape the West,” officially opened to the public on Friday, October 25 with a gala evening that included many of the women featured in the project in attendance, along with family, friends, sponsors, and museum patrons.
For project director Lindsay Linton Buk, seeing the exhibit hang at Wyoming’s only Smithsonian-accredited museum is a true culmination of three years of production, thousands of miles traveled, and infinite wisdom and lessons learned, she said.
The interactive exhibit features large-scale portraits, an audio soundscape weaving together natural sounds captured on location and the subject’s words of wisdom from the podcast interviews, as well as interactive storytelling components.

“Since 2016, I have captured their stories through medium format film photography and audio interviews, creating a powerful collective of contemporary female role models—from artists to politicians, ranchers, authors, businesswomen and community stewards,” Linton Buk says. “We can’t wait for you to see it, and celebrate the beauty, integrity, and profound legacy of Wyoming women and girls with us.”
The exhibit features several women who will be well-recognized by Jacksonites. Clarene Law, Affie Ellis, Megan Grassel, and others are among dozens of Wyoming women included in the project.
The exhibit will be on display through August 2, 2020.
