VICTOR, Idaho — A woman was charged with attempted first-degree murder after she attacked a man in his Victor home on Monday, according to the Teton County (Idaho) Sheriff’s Office.
Luna Nicoya Phaedra Serrano was arrested on Monday night after breaking into Derek Hawkes’ home on Kestrel Hill Road, where she had been subdued and detained by the injured Hawkes.
Serrano was charged for having “willfully, unlawfully, deliberately, with premeditation and malice aforethought attempted to kill Mr. Hawkes, a human being, by repeatedly stabbing Mr. Hawkes with scissors in locations including his head, neck, chest and torso and by kicking and/or pushing Mr. Hawkes off his second floor loft and onto his kitchen counter and/or the floor below,” according to the Teton County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
Hawkes was taken to Teton Valley Hospital to be treated for his wounds.
Serrano’s charges include first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery and burglary. One of those aggravated battery counts stems from a previous incident with the same victim, when she attacked Hawkes on Sept. 17.
Magistrate Judge Jason Walker set Serrano’s bond at $250,000 at a hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 3, stipulating that she must wear an ankle monitor if she posts bond.
