JACKSON, Wyo. — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm warning impacting Teton County, which will be in effect until Thursday, Jan. 18, at 5 p.m.

According to the NWS’ Riverton office, heavy snow is expected to accumulate from six to 12 inches in the Jackson Hole and Star Valley regions. Winds from the south are predicted to gust up to 30 to 40 mph.

The NWS report states that on Wednesday, Jan. 17, temperatures will rise to near freezing, causing a lull in the snow until the evening when it will pick up again, and so will the wind.

Take extra precautions in frigid temperatures. Drivers are to expect hazardous driving conditions. Take extra time to arrive at a destination and drive safely.

The NWS forecast predicts that temperatures will rise through the weekend, possibly causing snow to be mixed with rain through the weekend.
