JACKSON, Wyo. — Did everyone enjoy the mini-spring over the weekend? Things are about to change.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter storm advisories for a large swath of western Wyoming, including Jackson Hole, Star Valley and Yellowstone National Park. Between 5 a.m. on Tuesday and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jackson could see up to 8 inches of new snow, plus winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

“Precipitation will begin as snow Tuesday morning, but is expected to change over to rain by the afternoon and last through much of the night Tuesday night,” NWS advised. “Rain will then change back over to snow Wednesday morning.”

In the Tetons, much more snow is expected, with up to 3 feet possible at the highest elevations, per NWS.

“Travel could be very difficult,” the storm warning reads. “The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.”

As ever, the forecast could evolve. Keep an eye on the NWS website for updates. Before heading out to drive Teton Pass, take a look at the Wyoming Department of Transportation’s webcam.
