JACKSON, Wyo. — As wildfire season approaches, Teton Conservation District (TCD) and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS (JHFEMS) are providing free Wildfire Risk Overviews and grant funding to Teton County property owners. Although wildfires are unpredictable, there are measures that can be taken to reduce the risk to firefighters, people, and property.

Wildfire Risk Overviews

Teton County landowners can receive a free Wildfire Risk Overview from either TCD or JHFEMS. This service includes a site visit by experts who review the property and provide a written report with recommendations to reduce wildfire risk around residential and commercial structures, as well as undeveloped lands with building permits. These recommendations are voluntary and tailored to each property, with no obligation to implement them.

Grant Funding

For landowners interested in taking further action, TCD offers matching grants to help fund wildfire risk reduction projects. Landowners can receive up to 50% of project costs, with reimbursement not to exceed $3,000, to implement the recommendations from their Wildfire Risk Overview. This funding supports vegetation management projects.
