JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson’s hometown college offers more than degrees. Every year, Central Wyoming College offers community education classes about anything from technical skills to outdoor survival. Learn a new skill or get the certification you need in one of CWC Jackson’s upcoming classes.
Ready to learn something new? Here are this year’s offerings:
Adobe
Adobe is the industry favorite for creatives and marketing professionals. Linda Grimm will teach two Adobe classes: Photoshop, and InDesign & Photoshop.
In Adobe Photoshop, you’ll get a comprehensive introduction to the full version of Photoshop. Learn how to optimize photos, improve poor quality images, alter and retouch photos, and create photo collages. The class will also cover building original artwork for use on social media, websites, and digital marketing, as well as preparation of image files for print and web use. This class is offered Feb. 7-10 from 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Price is $225.
In Adobe InDesign & Photoshop, you’ll learn to create your own marketing materials with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. This class combines four days of comprehensive InDesign and one day of Photoshop Basics. InDesign is the industry standard for layout of business cards, mailers, brochures, newsletters, print ads and social media marketing art. Photoshop gives you the ability to optimize images used in your layouts. The class includes basic design guidance, typography skills and pre-press basics needed for a professional finished product. The class is offered March 7-11 from 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. for $275.
Avalanche Courses
CWC has two remaining Avalanche Level 2 with avalanche rescue courses open this season. Both are four-day, 30-hour courses that build upon snow science and knowledge gained in a Level 1 course. Students need to have completed a Level 1 avalanche training and avalanche rescue course. The first course is Feb. 9-13; the second is March 23-27. $750.
Wilderness rescue, first aid
There are several chances to get certified or re-certified as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness First Aid (WFA). Central Wyoming College is offering multiple WFR recertification courses and WFA courses from now until June.
You can also get certified for the first time as a Wilderness First Responder from. May 30 – June 8. The initial certification course is eight days/72 hours and $995.
Finally, learn the basics of CPR and first aid for adults and children. This is a one-day, three-hour course offered multiple times throughout the spring, beginning March 11.
