JACKSON, Wyo. — The community gathers at EcoFair every year on the second Saturday in May to learn about eco-friendly living and to be inspired to take their own sustainability actions.

The event, hosted by Energy Conservation Works, is a chance for organizations to connect with folks and share what they have on their calendars for the summer. If it’s your first time, you can look forward to live music, local food and drink and plenty of hands-on activities!

Join us for EcoFair on Saturday, May 13, from 12 to 5 p.m.  on the Center for the Arts Lawn.

Since its inception 20 years ago, the event has been a celebration of simple and sustainable living in the Tetons. EcoFair is a 100 percent Green Power event and also operates on a zero-waste model through both promotion and practice. All booth or exhibit hosts abide by their Go Eco!

Guidelines, and the overall carbon footprint of the event, is offset via the Rocky Mountain Institute’s Good Traveler program. All food and beverage service at EcoFair utilizes reusable serviceware – there are NO disposable cups at EcoFair!

Here are a few reminders and things to look forward to at EcoFair this weekend:

  • Tons of family-friendly activities!
  • BYO cup/mug or use a stainless cup from the JH Zero Waste Project at EcoFair – absolutely no disposable cups or single-use plastics of any kind!

Submit Your Nomination for the Andy Tyson Leadership And Sustainability (ATLAS)

There are special people in the community with a vision for the future, who commit their time and energy to projects that make a real difference. The ATLAS award recognizes outstanding individuals from the Teton region for their efforts in local, community-oriented environmental sustainability projects within the Teton’s built environment.

Please consider nominating a deserving community member by June 23.

“The ATLAS award, presented by Energy Conservation Works each year around EcoFair, is a powerful and celebratory way to recognize and raise awareness for the important sustainability work of leaders in our community,” said Phil Cameron, ED of ECW. “Please take a moment to nominate a leader whose work you’re excited to acknowledge.”

The award is presented to honor the memory of Andy, who help start EcoFair in the early 2000s. Andy was a leader in ushering thoughtful and sustainable living into everyday life. His expertise was broad and his passion was infectious. He filled many roles including a technical expert, a community organizer, a life-long learner, a passionate volunteer and a caring friend, partner and spouse.

“Advocating for renewable energy and sustainability in our greater region isn’t easy, but that never stopped Andy from rolling up his sleeves and trying incredibly hard, whether working to create Teton Valley’s first net metering program, attending burgeoning sustainability events all over the area or fighting for solar’s place in Idaho’s energy portfolio,” says his wife, Molly Tyson. “Andy was the ultimate diplomat. His easy going manner, science based approach and total professionalism helped create bridges between diverse sectors in the sustainability world.”

Thank you to all of the generous sponsors that make EcoFair possible:
