JACKSON, Wyo. — The National Weather Service’s Riverton office (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Teton and Gros Ventre ranges, in effect from 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
“Snow expected,” the alert message reads. “Total snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches for the Teton Mountains, and between 4 and 8 inches for the Gros Ventre Mountains. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.”
On-and-off precipitation over the past several days has made driving over Teton Pass more challenging. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has been periodically enforcing chain laws and weight limits.
“Travel could be very difficult across Teton Pass,” the NWS alert reads. “Slow down and use caution while traveling.”
The Pass is closed to trailer traffic seasonally beginning on Friday, Nov. 15. Sign up for WYDOT alerts to stay up to date.
