DRIGGS, Idaho — Valley of the Tetons Library (VTL) is getting a new home in Driggs.
The half-acre corner lot on Harper Ave and Main St that will house the new building was donated by local landowner Stefan Merriam. The lot is currently home to a set of tennis courts which will be replaced by new courts in Alta City Park.
The library has been working towards relocating to its own space from the rental property it’s currently in since 2019, located on Main St between Depot St and Cedron Rd. Community members, donors, VTL staff, trustees and friends have been working to plan for the new space, according to VTL.

The plan for the new building is based on a six-month needs assessment conducted by RATIO Architects, which offered one- and two-story design options. The current plan depicts a one-story structure.
Next steps now that the land has been secured include a four-to-six-month planning and strategy phase, land appraisal and zoning work. The library is also organizing a task force to work with trustees on planning the new space, and is inviting residents to join. The library is working to raise funds to pay the architectural design fees for the new location.
Funding for the new project will come from sources including grants, donations and a capital campaign, according to the library.
“VTL is enthusiastic about the future and we want to share that excitement with our community,” the library said on its website.
