JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton Science Schools (TSS) is excited to announce that the Mountain Academy Jackson Campus will transition to a year-round schedule for preschool and prekindergarten programs starting on Aug. 31.
The change will align preschool and pre-K with the school’s Young Toddler and Toddler programs. The new structure will create opportunities to deepen Mountain Academy’s Reggio Emilia-inspired, nature-based approach through outdoor exploration, emergent learning, and place-based experiences across the seasons. The move reflects the school’s commitment to providing meaningful educational experiences while meeting the evolving needs of families and educators.
“This transition allows us to create a more connected Early Childhood experience that honors how young children learn and grow best,” said Paige Fisher, Director of Early Childhood at the Mountain Academy Jackson Campus. “The expanded calendar strengthens relationships, supports continuity in learning, and gives children more opportunities to engage deeply with the natural world and their community throughout the seasons.”
Early childhood summer camps for children ages 3 to 5 years old continued as originally planned during this summer. Beginning in summer of 2027, Mountain Academy Early Childhood will be fully operating on the new schedule, offering the preschool and pre-K programs throughout the year.
“Children build confidence and resilience through strong relationships and familiar routines,” said Chris Bessonette, Head of School at the Mountain Academy Jackson Campus. “This model gives children the time to deepen those connections and grow with a strong sense of belonging and independence.”
